Leadership is an area that you will almost certainly be asked to write about extensively on any business course at any point within your education. Leadership style is something that has a massive impact on a company and the resignation of a someone that has successfully led a company can have a significant impact. So always ensure that you do all of the reading and attend all classes with an aim to actually listen and digest what is discussed.
- Do effective research: Google is not the only place from which research is conducted. Use the library to access relevant papers and journals for information that you can use within your leadership research. If you do use the internet use respected sites only and try to trace any information back to its primary source. Make sure that you collect all of the information that you will need to complete your bibliography and in text citations.
- Understand your assignment: Read your leadership case study very carefully to ensure that you are totally clear as to what you are being asked to provide. If you are not clear then ask your tutor for clarification so that you don’t waste your time answering something else.
- Create an outline: This will help you to save a huge amount of time during the actual writing process as well as highlighting any holes in your knowledge. Conversely, knowing the boundaries can head off trouble if you’re contemplating an unorthodox approach. In either case, before you go to your instructor, it’s a good idea to list, underline or circle the specific places in the assignment where the language makes you feel uncertain.”
